Old projects, new life...

Wow, I haven't updated my blog since February. Now that's a long time! Sorry for that, guys.

I've been pretty busy the last couple of months with a new 'old' graphic novel-project that I started like 4 years ago. It has been dormant for all those years because I wasn't certain if i wanted to finish it or not. I think it was kinda too much for me at that time and I just wasn't up for it because of reasons.
Some people have also been asking and reminding me about the project last year, during the preparations for the Jangton Brothers Retrospective. I pretty much took that as another subtle hint to take the project on again after years of silence.

The first pages I made four years ago have been lying around in my atelier ever since, collecting dust and many stares on blank saturday mornings. Yet, at this point, I actually feel pretty motivated to work on it it and give it the proper ending it deserves. It will be my first graphic novel, my debut, so it's pretty exciting for me!

There will be a short pre-publication of some pages on, so keep an eye on it during
the upcoming months.

In other 'old' news:
Back in March and June, I made a couple of new illustrations for Trends-magazine.

The first drawing accompanied an article about 'Vrije Beroepen'/'Free jobs'.
The second drawing accompanied an article about supermarkets and their everlasting discount-wars to attract (more) customers.

Both drawings were quickies to do in between the activities of my teacher and ICT-coordinator-jobs at different schools. The wicked know no rest...

6e Picturale Ronse 2015 - Met een bootje op zee...

I took some time this holiday to make 3 illustrations for the 6th edition of Picturale Ronse. The drawings are based on a short text for children.

If the drawings are selected by the jury, they will be exhibited at CC De Ververij in Ronse between the 28th of February and the 4th of April.

UPDATE 17/2/15
I got confirmation this afternoon that my drawings were on the shortlist and will indeed be part of the group exhibition "Aanstormend Talent/Upcoming Talent" at CC De Ververij. Cool!

Humo's Golden Ape-contest 2012

I made these cartoons for the Humo Golden Ape-contest with the help of Adobe Illustrator and some scans of different types of coloured paper. I could only send three cartoons, so I left out the last one with all the beavers and fire extinguishers. Still like it a lot, though. The text in the images is in Dutch by the way, but I translated it right beneath the image in English...

Text balloon (frame 1): Fear no longer, my Greek Friends...Text balloon (frame 2): ... I'll get you of the shit you're in!
Text balloon: Are you two up for an artistic and productive collaboration involving both your anuses being penetrated in an intimate and profound way? Text beneath: Cartoon-sollicitations

The Jangton Brothers Filmposters Retrospective @ Mekanik Strip *UPDATE*

After months of hard work, severe meetings, pressing calls and desperate messages, this saturday, the 12th of October 2013, we were finally able to realise the very first Jangton Brothers Filmposter Retrospective Exposition at Mekanik Strip in Antwerp.

The Jangton Brothers Expo is a duo-exhibition in which we show off 12 filmposters of fictional, made-up films by the enigmatic Jangton Brothers, a directing duo from the small village of Peerboom, Belgium. The expo is a result of the collaborative project I started with comic artist and illustrator Jangojim about a year ago...

You can still visit the exposition at Mekanik Strip, Sint-Jacobsmarkt 73, in Antwerp (Belgium) up until the 2nd of November 2013. You can also order a print of the filmposters we made.

A4-print = 20 euros
A3-print = 35 euros
A2-print = 45 euros
Poster-format (Exhibition-size, 100x70 cm) = 65 euros

The prices and sizes are also listed in the exhibition itself. Just ask one of the friendly people of the store to write dow…
