Publications in Trends

I made two illustrations for Trends-magazine this past month.

To start off with the most recent one...

This illustration accompanies the article "Last of the Mohicans"/"De Laatsten der Mohikanen" in Trends nr. 30, published on 1/8/2013.
The article talks about people with professions like shoemaker or baker, and the way they are struggling and putting up a real fight to survive in our modern-day society.

The following illustration was published in Trends nr. 29 (18/7/2013) and accompanied the article "Free information feeds the knowledge-economy"/"Gratis informatie voedt de kenniseconomie".
The article talked about open data, data the government makes accessible for companies and the public, and a new European guideline that must make the data more easy to access as individual.
It's also my first double-page I did for them :)

6e Picturale Ronse 2015 - Met een bootje op zee...

I took some time this holiday to make 3 illustrations for the 6th edition of Picturale Ronse. The drawings are based on a short text for children.

If the drawings are selected by the jury, they will be exhibited at CC De Ververij in Ronse between the 28th of February and the 4th of April.

UPDATE 17/2/15
I got confirmation this afternoon that my drawings were on the shortlist and will indeed be part of the group exhibition "Aanstormend Talent/Upcoming Talent" at CC De Ververij. Cool!

Humo's Golden Ape-contest 2012

I made these cartoons for the Humo Golden Ape-contest with the help of Adobe Illustrator and some scans of different types of coloured paper. I could only send three cartoons, so I left out the last one with all the beavers and fire extinguishers. Still like it a lot, though. The text in the images is in Dutch by the way, but I translated it right beneath the image in English...

Text balloon (frame 1): Fear no longer, my Greek Friends...Text balloon (frame 2): ... I'll get you of the shit you're in!
Text balloon: Are you two up for an artistic and productive collaboration involving both your anuses being penetrated in an intimate and profound way? Text beneath: Cartoon-sollicitations
Title: Matthias Shoemakers still getting half an Oscar ... (Not a great translation, I know. And I think most of you won't even understand this one without knowing the exact background (abo…

The Jangton Brothers Filmposters Retrospective @ Mekanik Strip *UPDATE*

After months of hard work, severe meetings, pressing calls and desperate messages, this saturday, the 12th of October 2013, we were finally able to realise the very first Jangton Brothers Filmposter Retrospective Exposition at Mekanik Strip in Antwerp.

The Jangton Brothers Expo is a duo-exhibition in which we show off 12 filmposters of fictional, made-up films by the enigmatic Jangton Brothers, a directing duo from the small village of Peerboom, Belgium. The expo is a result of the collaborative project I started with comic artist and illustrator Jangojim about a year ago...

You can still visit the exposition at Mekanik Strip, Sint-Jacobsmarkt 73, in Antwerp (Belgium) up until the 2nd of November 2013. You can also order a print of the filmposters we made.

A4-print = 20 euros
A3-print = 35 euros
A2-print = 45 euros
Poster-format (Exhibition-size, 100x70 cm) = 65 euros

The prices and sizes are also listed in the exhibition itself. Just ask one of the friendly people of the store to write dow…
