Humo's Golden Ape-contest 2012

I made these cartoons for the Humo Golden Ape-contest with the help of Adobe Illustrator and some scans of different types of coloured paper. I could only send three cartoons, so I left out the last one with all the beavers and fire extinguishers. Still like it a lot, though.
The text in the images is in Dutch by the way, but I translated it right beneath the image in English...

Text balloon (frame 1): Fear no longer, my Greek Friends...
Text balloon (frame 2): ... I'll get you of the shit you're in!

Text balloon: Are you two up for an artistic and productive
collaboration involving both your anuses being
penetrated in an intimate and profound way?
Text beneath: Cartoon-sollicitations

Title: Matthias Shoemakers still getting half an Oscar ...
(Not a great translation, I know. And I think most
of you won't even understand this one without knowing the
exact background (about the name 'Shoemakers' instead of 'Schoenaerts', said so by our minister of culture and the Bullhead- nomination for the Oscars, etc.)

Title: Become Humo-cartoonist
Sign (last frame): Become Humo-cartoon + selections
Text balloon (last frame): I think we chose the wrong door...

6e Picturale Ronse 2015 - Met een bootje op zee...

I took some time this holiday to make 3 illustrations for the 6th edition of Picturale Ronse. The drawings are based on a short text for children.

If the drawings are selected by the jury, they will be exhibited at CC De Ververij in Ronse between the 28th of February and the 4th of April.

UPDATE 17/2/15
I got confirmation this afternoon that my drawings were on the shortlist and will indeed be part of the group exhibition "Aanstormend Talent/Upcoming Talent" at CC De Ververij. Cool!

Some more stuff for Trends - November & December 2014

I cooked up two illustrations again for Trends Magazine during the last couple of months of 2014.

The first illustration was for an article about the so called 'zombie system'.
A zombie system is created when an economy that's stopped growing is on the verge of crashing and is still being squeezed out by the richest layers of the population. Result: the rich get richer and the poor get even poorer.
Inspired by the name of the system and the Halloween-festivities that took place during the period I was working on it, it became a money-devouring, upperclass zombiefest with a luxurious condo on top of a haunting house.

Last but not least was the traditional illustration for the end of the year special of Trends Magazine, "The world in 2015".
Like the two previous years, I made an illustration for the opening article, "Smart but spooky", of the part BusinessThe article was about smartphones slowly gaining enough information from us through agendas, messag…
